Custom Sheet Metal Fabrication

Custom Sheet Metal FabricationMetal fabrication creates structures by using cutting, bending, and assembling processes on sheet metal to form a variety of objects. This complex process involves the creation of machines, parts, and structures from different raw materials. Sheet metal fabrication specifically uses sheet metal to form machines and structures.

Metalworking Techniques

Welded Sheet Metal Specialty Co. has worked with a variety of clients over the years and provides state-of-the-art precision sheet metal fabrication to within very close tolerances. Below are some of the metal fabrication processes we implement and what’s involved:

Forming

The forming process moves a metal solid from its current shape to the desired form. Melting isn’t involved, which avoids any potential issues when handling molten metal. Bending creates a U or V-shape along a straight axis in sheet metal. Equipment used for this process includes brake presses, box and pan brakes, and specialized machine presses.

Shearing
  • Shearing: This cuts straight lines on a piece of sheet metal and is used for products that require long cuts or to trim down the edge of the material. It’s also known as die cutting and cuts the sheet without the formation of chips or using melting or burning.
  • Blanking: During this fabrication process, a piece of metal is removed from the primary sheet when it’s punched. The removed material is the new workpiece, or blank.
  • Punching: CNC metal punches allow you to create an assortment of customized shapes out of variable thicknesses of sheet metal
Welding

The welding fabrication process uses heat to join two pieces of metal together. There are various welding methods manufacturers can use to prevent warping or other visual defects.

Materials

Welded Sheet Metal Specialty Co. carries a large inventory of sheet metal stock for the following materials:

  • Aluminum
  • Stainless steel
  • Steel

If other sheet metal varieties are required, we can acquire them as needed. We have experience with all types of metals including brass, bronze, copper, nickel, and more.
